4-I guide
…and from their mother and father…
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Who looked after you when you were tiny?"
Watch the Nature on PBS video of ducklings jumping from their nest.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who else will people run from?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Even from parents?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah 'Abasa is surah 80. Find ayah 35. The key words ummihi wa abih mean his mother and his father. Even the people we love most can't carry our deeds for us on that Day.
Fact: How do ducklings follow their mother as soon as they hatch?
Ages 5–8: Thank-you card. Make a card for your mother or father thanking them for one thing.
Ages 9–12: Bird parents. Find out how long different baby birds stay with their parents.
Finish with: "I found that ducklings follow their mother because ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do something kind for my parents every day."
Action: Do something kind for your parents every day.
