Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What would it feel like to have a completely fresh start?"

Settle down and play the start of Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi's Al-Anfal (Abdelsattar Naji).

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What happens if they stop?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How generous is Allah's forgiveness?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Anfal is surah 8. Find ayah 38. Even those who fought the Prophet were told: stop, and everything before is forgiven. Many did, like Khalid ibn al-Walid and 'Amr ibn al-'As. Islam wipes the past clean.

Fact: The name of a companion who fought at Badr against the Muslims and later became Muslim, like Abu Sufyan.

Ages 5–8: Clean page. Start a fresh page in a notebook and write one good goal.

Ages 9–12: Fresh start. Write how Allah's forgiveness gives a fresh start.

Finish with: "If they stop, their ___ will be forgiven."

• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How generous is Allah?
• What fresh start do you want?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will make a fresh start with something."
