And He set the mountains firmly in place.
Start with bismillah.
Float a block of wood in water. Ask: "How much of it is under the water?"
Watch the Student Atlas video "Why Do Mountains Float?".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah do with the mountains?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What's under a mountain?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nazi'at is surah 79. Find ayah 32. The key word arsaha means He set them firmly, anchored them. Scientists have found that big mountains have deep "roots" in the Earth's crust.
Fact: What is isostasy?
Ages 5–8: Iceberg test. Put an ice cube in water. How much is under the water? Mountains are a bit like that.
Ages 9–12: Mountain roots. Find out how deep the roots of the Himalayas go.
Finish with: "I found that mountains have roots because ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will keep one good habit firm every day."
Action: Keep one good habit firm every day.
