لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ
How to read it

Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!-

Guided by the 4-I journey: Inspire, Investigate, Integrate, Impart. Use it as a starting point and make it your own.
Opening the guide…
No reflections for this ayah yet. Be the first, by reflecting with the 4-I journey below!
4-I guide
It leaves nothing untouched and spares nothing.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What three things does a fire need to burn?"
Watch the NFPA Kids video The Science of Fire.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does it leave?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah describe it like this?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Muddaththir is surah 74. Find ayah 28. The key words la tubqi wa la tadhar mean it leaves nothing and spares nothing. A fire on Earth can burn a whole forest. The ayah shows how serious the warning is, so we choose good while we can.
Fact: What is the fire triangle?
Ages 5–8: Fire safety. Draw your home's two ways out in case of fire.
Ages 9–12: Triangle test. With an adult, cover a lit candle with a jar. What happens, and why?
Finish with: "I found that a fire needs ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn our family's fire escape plan."
Action: Learn our family's fire escape plan.

Only light candles with an adult.
