وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًۭا
Wa 'annahu kāna rijālun mmina l-'insi yaʻūdhūna birijālin mmina l-jinni fazādūhum' rahaqan
'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly.

Some people used to seek protection from jinn, but it only made their fear worse.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever heard a superstition, like a black cat bringing bad luck?"
Watch the TED-Ed video Where do superstitions come from?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What happened to people who sought protection from jinn?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who can really keep me safe?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Jinn is surah 72. Find ayah 6. The key words ya'udhuna and rahaqa mean they sought refuge, and it increased their fear. People looked for safety from created things, but it only made them more afraid. Real safety comes from Allah alone.
Fact: Why do people believe superstitions even when they aren't true?
Ages 5–8: Real or not? List three superstitions you've heard. Then list three real ways to stay safe.
Ages 9–12: Myth buster. Pick one superstition and explain why it isn't true.
Finish with: "I found that people believe superstitions because ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, when I feel scared, I will make dua to Allah."
Action: This week, when you feel scared, make dua to Allah.
