لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًۭا صَعَدًۭا
Llinaf'tinahum' fīhi . waman yuʻ'riḍ' ʻan dhik'ri rabbihī yas'luk'hu ʻadhāban ṣaʻadan
"That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty.

Allah gives blessings to test people, and whoever turns from remembering Him faces growing hardship.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What happens to the land when there is no rain for a long time?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Why are blessings given?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can good things be a test?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Jinn is surah 72. Find ayah 17. The key words linaftinahum fih mean to test them with it. Both rain and drought can be tests: will we be thankful in good times and patient in hard times? Turning away from remembering Allah makes things harder.
Fact: How do plants survive a drought?
Ages 5–8: Thirsty plant. Water one plant and not another for three days. What do you notice?
Ages 9–12: Saving water. Find three ways farmers save water in dry places.
Finish with: "I found that plants survive drought by ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say alhamdulillah for one blessing every hour I'm awake."
Action: Say alhamdulillah for one blessing every hour you're awake.
