وَكَم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَٰهَا فَجَآءَهَا بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتًا أَوْ هُمْ قَآئِلُونَ
Wa kam mmin qar'yatin 'ah'lak'nāhā fajā'ahā ba''sunā bayātan 'aw' hum' qā'ilūna
How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest.

Many towns were destroyed for their wrongdoing, and punishment came to them suddenly at night or while they rested at midday.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What can old ruins teach us?"
Play the short clip from Islamic World of Saad Al-Qureshi reciting ayat 1–10 of Al-A'raf.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "When did the punishment come?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did it come suddenly?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-A'raf is surah 7. Find ayah 4. This ayah mentions, in one calm line, towns that refused their messengers. Their end came when they did not expect it. The lesson: turn to Allah now, while there is time.
Fact: Find one ruined city mentioned in the Qur'an, like the homes of Thamud.
Ages 5–8: Today, not tomorrow. Do a good deed now instead of later.
Ages 9–12: Learning from ruins. Write one lesson from towns of the past.
Finish with: "Punishment came by night or at ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will not delay a good deed."
Action: Not delay a good deed.
