فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌۭ
Fa-ṣ'bir' liḥuk'mi rabbika walā takun kaṣāḥibi l-ḥūti 'idh' nādā wahuwa mak'ẓūmun
So wait with patience for the Command of thy Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish,- when he cried out in agony.

So wait patiently for your Lord's decision, and don't be like the Companion of the Fish who called out in distress.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What helps you wait patiently?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who is the Companion of the Fish?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What can we learn from Prophet Yunus?" Younger children can draw theirs (no pictures of the prophet).
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 48. The key words sahibil-hut mean the Companion of the Fish: Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him). He left his people before Allah allowed him, then called on Allah from deep distress. The Prophet Muhammad is told to be patient with his people.
Fact: What is the largest fish in the sea?
Ages 5–8: Waiting game. Practise waiting calmly for one minute while counting slowly.
Ages 9–12: Patience plan. Write three things that help you stay patient when it's hard.
Finish with: "I found that the largest fish is ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will stay calm and patient once when I want to give up."
Action: Stay calm and patient once when you want to give up.
