كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
Kadhālika l-ʻadhābu . walaʻadhābu l-'ākhirati 'ak'baru . law' kānū yaʻ'lamūna
Such is the Punishment (in this life); but greater is the Punishment in the Hereafter,- if only they knew!

Such was their loss in this world, and what awaits in the next life is far heavier, if only they understood.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why do warning signs stand near cliff edges?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What is greater than the punishment in this world?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah give us warnings in this life?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 33. The key words wa la'adhabul-akhirati akbar tell us the next life's punishment is bigger still. Losing the garden was a warning in this life. Allah gives warnings now, like signs at a cliff edge, so we can turn back while there is time.
Fact: What shapes and colours are used for warning signs, and why?
Ages 5–8: Warning sign. Design a warning sign for something dangerous at home.
Ages 9–12: Good warnings. List three warnings that keep people safe and what would happen without them.
Finish with: "I found that warning signs are often ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will listen the first time I am warned."
Action: Listen the first time you are warned.
