فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
Faṭāfa ʻalay'hā ṭā'ifun mmin rrabbika wahum' nā'imūna
Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord, (which swept away) all around, while they were asleep.

In the night, while they slept, a calamity from Allah swept over the garden.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can one cold night ruin a whole orchard?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "When did the calamity come?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What things happen while we sleep that only Allah sees?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 19. The key words wa hum na'imun mean while they were asleep. The owners slept, sure of their harvest, but Allah's command came in the night. Farmers know one sharp frost can damage fruit blossoms overnight.
Fact: Why can frost damage fruit flowers?
Ages 5–8: Ice test. Put a leaf in the freezer overnight. How does it look in the morning?
Ages 9–12: Frost protection. Find two ways farmers protect fruit trees from frost.
Finish with: "I found that frost damages flowers because ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will remember Allah before I sleep."
Action: Remember Allah before you sleep.
