Nor someone harsh and cruel, and on top of that, of doubtful worth.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How should we treat animals that can't speak for themselves?"
Watch the Polly Olly video Be kind to animals. (It has music.)
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What kind of person is described?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah love gentleness?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 13. The key word 'utullin means harsh and cruel. Being rough with people or animals is the opposite of the Prophet's gentle character. He was kind even to animals, and taught us to be gentle in everything.
Fact: What do kittens need to grow healthy?
Ages 5–8: Gentle hands. Practise holding something fragile (like an egg) very gently.
Ages 9–12: Animal care. Find out how to care for one pet or wild animal kindly.
Finish with: "I found that kittens need ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will put out water for birds or animals."
Action: Put out water for birds or animals.
