Start with bismillah.

For parents: This phrase shows Allah's greatness and highness over everything; Allah is not in a place or direction, nothing is like Him (42:11). If your child asks where Allah is, say: Allah is greater than everything and knows and cares for us wherever we are; ask your ustaz or ustazah for more.

Ask: "What makes the ground shake in an earthquake?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What question does Allah ask?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does the ground usually stay so still?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mulk is surah 67. Find ayah 16. The key word tamur means shakes and sways. Allah made the earth steady for us (ayah 15), and only He keeps it so. Earthquakes remind us how small we are and how much we rely on Allah for every calm day.

Fact: What should you do to stay safe during an earthquake?

Ages 5–8: Drop, cover, hold. Practise the earthquake safety steps under a sturdy table.

Ages 9–12: Plate map. Find a map of Earth's plates and mark where earthquakes happen most.

Finish with: "I found that in an earthquake you should ___."

Talk together:

• Why don't we usually notice how steady the ground is?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we thank Allah for safety?
• How can we help people affected by earthquakes?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank Allah for keeping our home safe."
