وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
Wa qālū law' kunnā nas'maʻu 'aw' naʻ'qilu mā kunnā fī 'aṣ'ḥābi ssaʻīri
They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!"

They will say that if only they had listened or used their minds, they would not be among the people of the Blaze.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What two things could have saved them?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do they wish they had done?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I use my mind and ears well?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mulk is surah 67. Find ayah 10. The key words law kunna nasma'u aw na'qilu mean if only we had listened or reasoned. Allah gave us ears and minds to find the truth. Our brains grow stronger the more we use them to think.
Fact: How many neurons (brain cells) does a human brain have?
Ages 5–8: Listen and think. Listen to a riddle, think, then answer. Try three riddles.
Ages 9–12: Brain workout. Find out how learning new things changes the brain.
Finish with: "I found that the brain has about ___ neurons."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will stop and think before I decide something."
