Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Where do you go when you fall asleep?"

Put on a reciter's Al-An'am from Learn Quran Seekhain and follow along for a little while.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah do each night?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is sleep like a small reminder of death?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-An'am is surah 6. Find ayah 60. Sleep is a daily sign. We let go of the day and wake up again by Allah's will. This is why we say a du'a on waking thanking Allah for giving us life again.

Fact: The waking du'a: Alhamdulillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.

Ages 5–8: Wake-up du'a. Learn the waking du'a together.

Ages 9–12: Sleep sign. Write how sleep and waking remind us of the Akhirah.

Finish with: "Each morning, Allah gives us life ___."

Talk together:

• What happens in sleep?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What does waking remind us of?
• What will you say when you wake?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will say the waking du'a every morning."

• Sleep is a sign.
• Thank Allah on waking.
• We return to Him.
