وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ
Wa lā takūnū ka-lladhīna nassū -llaha fa'ansāhum' 'anfussahum' . 'ūlā'ika humu l-fāssiqūna
And be ye not like those who forgot Allah; and He made them forget their own souls! Such are the rebellious transgressors!

Don't be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves; they are the rebellious ones.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can an elephant recognise itself in a mirror?"
Watch the Nat Geo Animals video Elephant in the Mirror.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What happened to those who forgot Allah?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How does remembering Allah help me know myself?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Hashr is surah 59. Find ayah 19. The key words nasullaha fa-ansahum anfusahum mean they forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. When we forget Allah, we forget who we really are and why we're here. Remembering Allah is like looking in a mirror that shows our true selves.
Fact: Which animals can recognise themselves in a mirror?
Ages 5–8: Mirror talk. Look in a mirror and say three good things Allah gave you.
Ages 9–12: Who am I? Write who you are: a servant of Allah, a family member, a learner.
Finish with: "I found that ___ can recognise themselves."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will remember Allah at three set times each day."
Action: Remember Allah at three set times each day.
