Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah bring us out of?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What are the 'darknesses' Allah saves us from?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Hadid is surah 57. Find ayah 9. The key words minaz-zulumati ilan-nur mean from darknesses into light. Allah sent the Quran to the Prophet like a lamp in a dark room. Ra'uf and Rahim mean Kind and Merciful.

Fact: Why do shadows form?

Ages 5–8: Shadow play. Make shadow shapes with a torch on the wall.

Ages 9–12: Kinds of darkness. List three kinds of "darkness" (like fear or confusion) and how the Quran lights each one.

Finish with: "I found that shadows form because ___."

Talk together:

• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How has the Quran brought light to you?
• How can we bring light to others?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?
