...there is ease, sweet scent and a garden of bliss.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How does your nose know what it is smelling?"
Watch the Smile and Learn video How does the sense of smell work?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What three gifts are mentioned?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What will Jannah smell like?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Waqi'ah is surah 56. Find ayah 89. The key words rawh and rayhan mean rest and sweet fragrance. Rayhan is also the name of fragrant plants like basil. A lovely smell can make us feel calm and happy in a second. For the near ones, the moment of passing brings rest, sweetness and a garden.
Fact: How many different smells can the human nose tell apart?
Ages 5–8: Smell jars. Put herbs or spices in cups, close your eyes and guess each smell.
Ages 9–12: Grow basil. Plant basil seeds and keep a diary of how they grow and smell.
Finish with: "I found that our noses can tell apart about ___ smells."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will keep myself and my room clean and fresh."
Action: Keep yourself and your room clean and fresh.
