Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who could make carpets more beautiful than any on Earth?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ar-Rahman is surah 55. Find ayah 76. The key words rafraf khudr and 'abqariyy hisan mean green cushions and beautiful, finely made carpets. Skilled weavers tie thousands of knots to make one rug, and it can take months. The furnishings of Jannah are more beautiful than the finest work of any weaver.
Fact: How many knots can there be in a hand-made rug?
Ages 5–8: Knot practice. Tie knots in wool to make a tiny tassel.
Ages 9–12: Rug pattern. Design a carpet pattern on squared paper.
Finish with: "I found that a hand-made rug can have about ___ knots."
Talk together:
