Wa laqad' yassar'nā l-qur''āna li dhdhik'ri fahal' min mmuddakirin

The Quran has been made easy to keep in mind, so who will take heed?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why is a phone number easier to remember in small groups?"
Watch the National Geographic video The Chunking Trick.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How many times does this ayah appear in the surah?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I learn a long surah bit by bit?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qamar is surah 54. Find ayah 40. The key words fa-hal min mean so is there anyone. This is the fourth and last time the ayah appears. "Chunking" means learning in small pieces. The Quran is already in chunks: ayat, pages and surahs. Learning a few lines a day adds up to a lot.
Fact: About how many items can most people hold in short-term memory at once?
Ages 5–8: Chunk it. Learn a long ayah by saying it in three short parts.
Ages 9–12: Surah plan. Make a plan to learn a longer surah a few ayat at a time.
Finish with: "I found that people can hold about ___ items at once."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn two lines of a new surah every day."
Action: Learn two lines of a new surah every day.
