Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What are mother and father animals called?"
Watch the Sesame Street video Elmo Meets Animal Families.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah create in pairs?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did Allah create pairs?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Najm is surah 53. Find ayah 45. The key word az-zawjayn means the two of a pair. Allah created animals and people in pairs, so that families can grow. A lion and lioness, a ram and ewe, a mother and father: each pair is part of Allah's plan.
Fact: What are the names for male, female and baby of three animals?
Ages 5–8: Animal families. Match pictures of animal mothers, fathers and babies.
Ages 9–12: Pair names. Make a table of five animals with male, female and baby names.
Finish with: "I found that a male, female and baby ___ are called ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank my parents for one thing each day."
Action: Thank your parents for one thing each day.
