فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
Fa'aʻ'riḍ' ʻan mman tawallā ʻan dhik'rinā walam' yurid' 'illā l-ḥayāta ddun'yā
Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.

So turn away from whoever turns from Our reminder and wants only the life of this world.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What makes someone a good friend?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who should we not follow?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do friends change who we become?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Najm is surah 53. Find ayah 29. The key word a'rid means turn away. Some people care only about this world and ignore Allah's reminder. Spending too much time with them can pull us away from good. Good friends remind us of Allah and help us grow.
Fact: How do our friends affect our habits?
Ages 5–8: Friend qualities. Draw a friend and write three good qualities around them.
Ages 9–12: Friend check. Write five signs of a friend who helps you be better.
Finish with: "I found that friends affect our habits by ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will spend time with a friend who helps me be better."
Action: Spend time with a friend who helps you be better.
