فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Fākihīna bimā 'ātāhum' rabbuhum' wawaqāhum' rabbuhum' ʻadhāba l-jaḥīmi
Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.

They rejoice in what their Lord has given them, and He keeps them safe from the Fire.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Which present made you smile the most, and why?"
Watch the Scholastic video Being Thankful.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two blessings are mentioned?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What makes a gift feel so special?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tur is surah 52. Find ayah 18. The key word fakihin means enjoying and delighted. The people of Jannah are delighted with Allah's gifts and also safe from harm. Being thankful now trains our hearts to notice every gift.
Fact: What happens in our brain when we feel thankful?
Ages 5–8: Gift jar. Write or draw one gift from Allah each day and put it in a jar.
Ages 9–12: Thank-you letter. Write a letter to someone who has helped you this year.
Finish with: "I found that feeling thankful helps our brain by ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say alhamdulillah for three gifts before bed."
Action: Say alhamdulillah for three gifts before bed.
