ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Iṣ'law'hā fa-ṣ'birū 'aw' lā taṣ'birū sawā'un ʻalay'kum' . 'innamā tuj'zaw'na mā kuntum' taʻ'malūna
"Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds."

You are only repaid for what you used to do.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What happens to a seedling that is watered daily, and one that is forgotten?"
Watch the ABC Educational Channel video Cause and Effect for Kids.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Why do people receive what they receive on that Day?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How is it fair that our deeds bring results?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tur is surah 52. Find ayah 16. The key words ma kuntum ta'malun mean what you used to do. Allah is completely fair: no one is wronged. Every action is like a cause, and the result on the Day comes from what we chose. This is why every small good deed matters.
Fact: What is one example of cause and effect in the weather?
Ages 5–8: Domino effect. Line up blocks and push the first. Which one is the cause?
Ages 9–12: Deed chain. Draw a chain showing how one kind deed can lead to three more good things.
Finish with: "I found that in the weather, ___ leads to ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will start one chain of kindness and see where it goes."
Action: Start one chain of kindness and see where it goes.
