Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What names were the messengers called?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How did the messengers stay strong when called names?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Adh-Dhariyat is surah 51. Find ayah 52. The key words sahirun aw majnun mean a magician or a madman. Every messenger heard the same insults. This comforted the Prophet: he was not alone. Name-calling says more about the person doing it than about the one being called names.

Fact: What is a good way to respond when someone calls you a name?

Ages 5–8: Kind names. Write a kind name or word for each person in your family.

Ages 9–12: Response plan. Write three calm responses to name-calling.

Finish with: "I found that a good response to name-calling is ___."

Talk together:

• Why did people call the messengers names?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How can we comfort someone who has been called names?
• Why should we never call others hurtful names?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will only use kind names for everyone, even when I am upset."
