Opening the ayah…
قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظٌۢ
Qad' ʻalim'nā mā tanquṣu l-'ar'ḍu min'hum' . waʻindanā kitābun ḥafīẓun[m]
We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account).

4-I guide
We know exactly what the earth takes from them, and We keep a record that preserves everything.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do scientists know about animals that lived millions of years ago?"
Watch the National Geographic video Fossils 101.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah know and keep?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Does Allah know about every tiny thing in the earth?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Qaf is surah 50. Find ayah 4. The key words kitabun hafiz mean a book that preserves. Even when bodies turn to dust, Allah knows exactly where every part has gone. Nothing is lost to Him. Fossils show how the earth keeps traces of the past for millions of years. It is a sign to ponder.
Fact: What is the oldest fossil ever found?
Ages 5–8: Shell print. Press a shell into clay and let it dry to make your own pretend fossil.
Ages 9–12: Fossil types. Find out the difference between a body fossil and a trace fossil.
Finish with: "I found that the oldest fossil is about ___ old."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do one hidden good deed, knowing Allah records it."
Action: Do one hidden good deed, knowing Allah records it.
