4-I guide
And tall palm trees with clusters of fruit stacked in layers.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever wondered how dates grow?"
Watch the Western Growers video When is Date Season? and How are Dates Harvested?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How are the palm trees described?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do dates grow so high up?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Qaf is surah 50. Find ayah 10. The key words basiqat and nadid mean tall and stacked in layers. Date palms can grow over twenty metres tall, and their fruit hangs in heavy bunches, one layer above another. Dates are sweet, healthy and full of energy.
Fact: How many dates can one palm tree produce in a year?
Ages 5–8: Date tasting. Taste two different kinds of dates and describe them.
Ages 9–12: Palm parts. Draw a date palm and label the trunk, fronds and fruit clusters.
Finish with: "I found that one palm can produce about ___ of dates."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will share dates with my family and say alhamdulillah."
Action: Share dates with your family and say alhamdulillah.
