Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Who would you trust to protect your faith?"

Play the clip of ayat 51–56 from NgajiBareng04 and follow the Arabic letters with a finger if you can.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who are believers told not to take as protectors?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Is being kind different from being someone's protector?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Ma'idah is surah 5. Find ayah 51. Scholars explain that 'awliya' here means close allies and guardians in matters of faith, especially at a time of hostility. Islam still commands kindness and fairness to peaceful neighbours of every faith (60:8).

Fact: Al-Mumtahanah 60:8 is about being good and just to peaceful neighbours of other faiths.

Ages 5–8: Kind to all. Name one kind thing you could do for a neighbour.

Ages 9–12: Allies and kindness. Write the difference between protecting your faith and being kind to others.

Finish with: "Allah does not forbid kindness to peaceful ___."

Talk together:

• What is this ayah about?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What does 60:8 add?
• How can you be kind to all?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will be kind to a neighbour."
