أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ
'Afalā yatadabbarūna l-qur''āna 'am' ʻalā qulūbin 'aq'fāluhā
Do they not then earnestly seek to understand the Qur'an, or are their hearts locked up by them?

Do they not reflect deeply on the Quran, or are there locks upon their hearts?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What is the difference between reading and really thinking about something?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What might stop a heart from understanding?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What key opens a locked heart?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Muhammad is surah 47. Find ayah 24. The key word yatadabbarun means they reflect deeply. This is where the word tadabbur comes from, the name of this very programme! Allah invites us to think about the Quran, not just read it. When we stop reflecting, it is as if our hearts get locked.
Fact: Which other ayah in the Quran also invites tadabbur?
Ages 5–8: Wonder key. Draw a key and write one question about the Quran on it.
Ages 9–12: Reflection journal. Choose one ayah, read it slowly and write three thoughts about it.
Finish with: "I found that tadabbur is also mentioned in ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will spend five minutes reflecting on one ayah."
Action: Spend five minutes reflecting on one ayah.
