Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What do you do when you feel you've tried everything?"

Watch the La La Learning Tales story The Power of Dua.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Musa do after trying his best?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Does Allah want to hear my problems?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ad-Dukhan is surah 44. Find ayah 22. The key words fa-da'a rabbahu mean so he called on his Lord. After speaking kindly, showing signs and asking to be left alone, Musa turned to Allah and told Him the problem. Prophets did their best and then handed the rest to Allah in du'a.

Fact: What is one du'a Musa made that is in the Quran?

Ages 5–8: Talk to Allah. Tell Allah about one worry in your own words.

Ages 9–12: Effort and du'a. Write one problem, the effort you made, and your du'a.

Finish with: "I found that one of Musa's du'as asks Allah to ___."

Talk together:

• Why did Musa make du'a after trying so hard?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What problem would you like to tell Allah about?
• How do effort and du'a work together?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will tell Allah about one worry in my du'a."

• Tell Allah one worry.
• Talk to Allah in your words.
• Share effort and du'a.
• Next time: the next ayah (44:23) tells Musa to travel by night. Explore it together!

Action: Tell Allah about one worry in your du'a.
