Yet as soon as Musa showed them Allah's signs, they burst out laughing.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What signs did Allah give Musa?"
Watch the Assalam kids tv video Musa's Mighty Staff.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How did Pharaoh's people react?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why would someone laugh at a real miracle?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 47. The key word yadhakun means they laugh. Musa's staff turned into a snake and his hand shone white, clear signs from Allah. Yet the chiefs laughed. Laughing at something serious is a way of avoiding it. Taking signs seriously is the first step to faith.
Fact: What were Musa's first two signs?
Ages 5–8: Serious or silly? Sort situations into ones to laugh about and ones to take seriously.
Ages 9–12: Why laugh? Write why people sometimes laugh to avoid thinking.
Finish with: "I found that the first two signs were ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will listen seriously when someone shares something important."
Action: Listen seriously when someone shares something important.
