It is truly a reminder and an honour for you and your people, and you will all be questioned.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How is the Quran like a friend?"
Watch the Omar & Hana episode The Quran is Our Friend.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two things is the Quran for us?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How does the Quran honour the people who carry it?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 44. The key word ladhikr means a reminder and an honour. The Arabs had been a scattered people; the Quran made them known across the world. It still honours anyone who learns and lives by it. With honour comes responsibility: we will be asked what we did with it.
Fact: How many people around the world have memorised the Quran?
Ages 5–8: Quran friend. Draw yourself and the Quran as good friends.
Ages 9–12: Honour and duty. Write what honour the Quran gives and what duty comes with it.
Finish with: "I found that ___ people have memorised the Quran."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will share one lesson from the Quran at dinner."
Action: Share one lesson from the Quran at dinner.
