وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
Wa 'innahum' layaṣuddūnahum' ʻani ssabīli wayaḥ'sabūna 'annahum mmuh'tadūna
Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright!

These companions block them from the path, while they think they are rightly guided.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can a bad friend make wrong things seem okay?"
Watch the Little Fox fables Be a Good Friend. You can watch one fable.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do these people think about themselves?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I tell if I'm being led the wrong way?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 37. The key word yahsabun means they think, they assume. The scariest part of being misled is not noticing it. A bad companion makes wrong seem right, step by step. Checking our actions against the Quran and listening to wise people help us notice.
Fact: What is a compass used for?
Ages 5–8: Check the map. Play a game where one person gives wrong directions and others check the map.
Ages 9–12: Reality check. Write three questions to ask yourself to check you're on the right path.

Talk together:
