Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Does Allah choose people because they are rich or famous?"

Watch the Alhikmah Kids Corner video The Hardest Day: Ta'if.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who did they think should have received the Quran?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did Allah choose the Prophet Muhammad?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 31. The key words rajulin min al-qaryatayn mean a man from the two towns, Makkah and Ta'if. The leaders thought a rich chief should have been chosen. But Allah chose the Prophet for his honesty and pure heart. Ironically, the leaders of Ta'if later treated the Prophet very badly, while he stayed patient and forgiving.

Fact: Where is Ta'if?

Ages 5–8: Heart over money. Draw a heart and a bag of money, and talk about which Allah values more.

Ages 9–12: Chosen for character. Write three qualities that made the Prophet the right choice.

Finish with: "I found that Ta'if is ___."

Talk together:

• Why did the leaders think wealth mattered most?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What does Allah look at in people?
• How did the Prophet respond at Ta'if?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will notice someone's good character, not their things."
