Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Have you ever refused to try something and later loved it?"

Watch the Hoots & Tales read-aloud Until I Tried.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did the warner offer, and how did they reply?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why would anyone refuse something better?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zukhruf is surah 43. Find ayah 24. The key word ahda means better guided. The warner gently asked: what if I bring you something better? They refused without even looking. A closed mind misses out. An open mind tries, checks and then chooses what is right.

Fact: What is one food you refused once but like now?

Ages 5–8: Try it. Try a new healthy food or activity this week.

Ages 9–12: Open-mind test. Write about a time you changed your mind after learning more.

Finish with: "I found that I now like ___."

Talk together:

• Why do people refuse without looking?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How does an open mind help us find truth?
• What new thing would you like to try?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will try one new good thing I've been avoiding."

• Try something new and good.
• Try it this week.
• Share your open-mind test.
• Next time: the next ayah (43:25) tells what happened to those who refused. Explore it together!

Action: Try one new good thing you've been avoiding.
