وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْغَيْثَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا۟ وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُۥ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْوَلِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ
Wa huwa -lladhī yunazzilu l-ghay'tha min[m] baʻ'di mā qanaṭū wayanshuru raḥ'matahu . wahuwa l-waliyyu l-ḥamīdu
He is the One that sends down rain (even) after (men) have given up all hope, and scatters His Mercy (far and wide). And He is the Protector, Worthy of all Praise.

He sends down rain after people have lost hope and spreads His mercy, and He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How does the ground smell after the first rain?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "When does Allah send the rain?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah sometimes wait until people lose hope?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shura is surah 42. Find ayah 28. The key word al-ghayth means rain that brings relief. Farmers sometimes wait a long time for rain until they nearly give up. Then Allah sends it, and dry land turns green again. This ayah teaches us never to lose hope in Allah, the Protector who deserves all praise.
Fact: What is the smell of rain on dry earth called?
Ages 5–8: Rain in a jar. Fill a jar with water, top it with shaving foam, and drip coloured water until it rains through.
Ages 9–12: Hope journal. Write about a time you waited for something and Allah's help came.
Finish with: "I found that the smell of rain is called ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make du'a when it rains or when I see clouds."
Action: Make du'a when it rains or when you see clouds.
