ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۗ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌۭ
Allahu -lladhī 'anzala l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi wal-mīzāna . wamā yud'rīka laʻalla ssāʻata qarībun
It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?

Allah sent down the Book with truth, along with the Balance, and who knows, the Hour could be close.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What does a balance scale do?"
Watch the Alston Education video Comparing Masses using a Balance Scale.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two things did Allah send down?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What is the Balance in this ayah?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shura is surah 42. Find ayah 17. The key word al-mizan means the balance. Allah sent the Quran with truth, and the Balance, which scholars explain as justice and fairness. A balance scale shows when things are equal or not. The Quran teaches us to weigh our choices fairly, because the Hour could come at any time.
Fact: Where has one of the oldest balance scales been found?
Ages 5–8: Make a balance. Hang two cups from a coat hanger and compare toys to see which is heavier.
Ages 9–12: Weigh it up. Pick one choice you face this week and list what is good and bad on each side.
Finish with: "I found that one of the oldest balances was found in ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will stop and weigh one choice before I make it."
Action: Stop and weigh one choice before you make it.
