وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ فَٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْعَمَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَٰعِقَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
How to read it
Wa 'ammā thamūdu fahaday'nāhum' fa-s'taḥabbū l-ʻamā ʻalāl-hudā fa'akhadhat'hum' ṣāʻiqatu l-ʻadhābi l-hūni bimā kānū yak'sibūna
As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.
