فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَقُلْ أَنذَرْتُكُمْ صَٰعِقَةًۭ مِّثْلَ صَٰعِقَةِ عَادٍۢ وَثَمُودَ
Fa'in' 'aʻ'raḍū faqul' 'andhar'tukum' ṣāʻiqatan mmith'la ṣāʻiqati ʻādin wathamūda
But if they turn away, say thou: "I have warned you of a stunning Punishment (as of thunder and lightning) like that which (overtook) the 'Ad and the Thamud!"

If they turn away, tell them you warn them of a thunderous blast like the one that came upon Ad and Thamud.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why do we learn about people from long ago?"
Watch the IQRA CARTOON video Prophet Stories: Hud.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which two peoples are named?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What happened to Ad and Thamud?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Fussilat is surah 41. Find ayah 13. The key word sa'iqah means a thunderous blast. Ad and Thamud were powerful peoples of ancient Arabia. They refused the messengers Allah sent them, and were destroyed. Their stories are told so we can learn from their mistakes and choose the right path.
Fact: What is the name of the region where Ad lived, which is also the name of a surah?
Ages 5–8: Then and now. Draw an old house and a modern house, and talk about how people change but lessons stay.
Ages 9–12: Lessons list. Write three lessons we can learn from peoples who refused their messengers.
Finish with: "I found that Ad lived in ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn the story of Prophet Hud."
Action: Learn the story of Prophet Hud.
