يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ
Yaw'ma lā yanfaʻu ẓẓālimīna maʻ'dhiratuhum' . walahumu -llaʻ'natu walahum' sū'u ddāri
The Day when no profit will it be to Wrong-doers to present their excuses, but they will (only) have the Curse and the Home of Misery.

On that Day the wrongdoers' excuses will be of no use to them; they will be far from mercy and have the worst home.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever said it wasn't my fault when it really was?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Will excuses help on that Day?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is owning up so hard?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ghafir is surah 40. Find ayah 52. The key word ma'dhiratuhum means their excuses. In this life, people often make excuses for bad habits. On the Last Day, excuses will not work. The right time to change a bad habit into a good one is now, without excuses.
Fact: Which ayah of Surah Al-Qiyamah says a person knows the truth about himself even if he makes excuses?
Ages 5–8: Habit swap. Pick one bad habit and choose a good habit to replace it.
Ages 9–12: Own it list. Write three times you could own a mistake instead of explaining it away.
Finish with: "I found that the ayah is Al-Qiyamah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will swap one bad habit for a good one."
Action: Swap one bad habit for a good one.
