Rather, worship Allah alone and be one of the thankful.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do worship and gratitude go together?"
Watch the Secret Garden TV video Islamic Kids Story on Shukr. Part of it is enough.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two things are we told?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How is salah a way of saying thank you?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zumar is surah 39. Find ayah 66. The key words min ash-shakirin mean among the grateful. After the warning comes the simple answer: worship Allah alone and be thankful. Our salah, du'a and good deeds are all ways of saying thank you to the One who gave us everything.
Fact: Which ayah in Surah Luqman says be grateful to Me and to your parents?
Ages 5–8: Thank-you salah. Before salah today, think of one thing to thank Allah for.
Ages 9–12: Gratitude in action. List five ways to show thanks to Allah through actions, not just words.
Finish with: "I found that the ayah is Luqman ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank my parents for one thing each day."
Action: Thank your parents for one thing each day.
