Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What reward do the patient get?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is patience rewarded so much?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zumar is surah 39. Find ayah 10. The key word as-sabirun means the patient ones. Allah reminds believers that His earth is wide: if things are hard in one place, there are other paths. Patient people will receive a reward that cannot be measured or counted. Patience is one of the most rewarded qualities.

Ages 5–8: Waiting game. Practise waiting patiently for one minute before a treat, quietly counting.

Ages 9–12: Patience plan. Write one situation where you need patience and three ways to stay calm.

Finish with: "I found that it is about ___ kilometres around the earth."

• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• When do you find patience hardest?
• What does it mean that Allah's earth is wide?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will stay patient in one situation that usually upsets me."
