أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ
'A'unzila ʻalay'hi dhdhik'ru min[m] bay'ninā . bal' hum' fī shakkin mmin dhik'rī . bal llammā yadhūqū ʻadhābi
"What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"...but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment!

They asked whether the reminder had really been sent to him alone out of all of them; in fact they are unsure of My message, and they have not yet tasted My punishment.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever felt upset that someone else was chosen instead of you?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What question did the deniers ask?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who decides who becomes a prophet?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Sad is surah 38. Find ayah 8. The key word dhikr means the reminder, here meaning the Quran. Some chiefs were jealous: why should the message come to him and not to one of them? But Allah chooses whom He wills, with complete knowledge. Jealousy made them doubt something they knew deep down was true.
Fact: In which cave did the first revelation come down?
Ages 5–8: Happy for you. Take turns saying something good that happened to someone else and cheer for them.
Ages 9–12: Jealousy fixer. Write three things you can do when you feel jealous, like making du'a for that person.
Finish with: "I found that the cave was called ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say something kind when someone else does well."
Action: Say something kind when someone else does well.
