Remember when, one evening, well-bred horses, standing poised and quick to run, were paraded in front of him.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What is your favourite thing about horses?"
Watch the Zill Noorain Kids video Horse in Islam for Kids.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "When were the horses shown to Sulaiman?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why were horses so special in the past?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Sad is surah 38. Find ayah 31. The key word al-jiyad means swift, fine horses. Horses were used for travel and for defending the land, and they were a great blessing. The ayah describes them standing gracefully, ready to run. Horses are a sign of Allah's creation: strong, fast and gentle with people who care for them.
Fact: Can horses sleep standing up?
Ages 5–8: Gallop game. Gallop around the garden like a horse, then stand still and calm like the horses in the ayah.
Ages 9–12: Horse facts. Find and write five facts about how horses live.
Finish with: "I found that horses ___ sleep standing up."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn about one animal and thank Allah for it."
Action: Learn about one animal and thank Allah for it.
