Yet they rejected it, and soon they will find out.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What happened in Makkah in the end, after years of rejection?"
Watch the Mufti Menk video The Conquest of Makkah.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they do when the reminder came?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Did any of them change later?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah As-Saffat is surah 37. Find ayah 170. The key word fa-sawfa ya'lamun means they will come to know. When the Quran came, many of the Quraysh rejected it. But in the years that followed, Makkah opened to Islam and many of the same people became believers. The truth became clear, just as Allah said.
Fact: In which year after the Hijrah did Makkah open to the Muslims?
Ages 5–8: Changed hearts. Talk about how people can change and become good.
Ages 9–12: Promise fulfilled. Write how the opening of Makkah showed this ayah coming true.
Finish with: "I found that it was in the year ___ after the Hijrah."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will be patient with someone who is slow to change."
Action: Be patient with someone who is slow to change.
