Do you call upon Ba'l and leave aside the most excellent of creators?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why would someone leave the real Creator for a statue?"
Watch the Raising 4Caliphs video The Story of Prophet Ilyas: A Story of Faith.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What were the people calling on instead of Allah?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What was Ba'l?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah As-Saffat is surah 37. Find ayah 125. The key word ahsan al-khaliqin means the most excellent of creators. Ba'l was an idol people prayed to. Ilyas asked how they could leave Allah, who creates everything so beautifully, for a lifeless statue. Allah's creation is full of beauty and wisdom.
Fact: In which surah does the phrase "the most excellent of creators" also appear, describing how a baby is formed?
Ages 5–8: Beauty hunt. Find three beautiful things Allah created and draw them.
Ages 9–12: Excellent design. Write about one part of the human body that shows amazing design.
Finish with: "I found that the surah is ___."
Talk together:
