So We delighted him with news of a gentle, forbearing son.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What does it mean to be gentle and patient?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Who was this boy?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah As-Saffat is surah 37. Find ayah 101. The key word halim means forbearing, gentle and calm, not quick to anger. Allah answered Ibrahim's du'a with a son. Most scholars say this was Ismail. Even before he was born, Allah described his beautiful character. Allah, Al-Halim, is the Most Forbearing and loves gentleness.
Fact: What was the name of Ismail's mother?
Ages 5–8: Calm count. When you feel cross, count slowly to ten before speaking.
Ages 9–12: Halim habits. Write three ways to stay calm and gentle when someone annoys you.
Finish with: "I found that his mother was ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will count to ten before reacting when I feel cross."
