أَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ ٱلْخَوْفُ رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَٱلَّذِى يُغْشَىٰ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ ٱلْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَأَحْبَطَ ٱللَّهُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا
How to read it
'Ashiḥḥatan ʻalay'kum' . fa'idhā jā'a l-khaw'fu ra'ay'tahum' yanẓurūna 'ilay'ka tadūru 'aʻ'yunuhum' ka-lladhī yugh'shā ʻalay'hi mina l-maw'ti . fa'idhā dhahaba l-khaw'fu salaqūkum bi'alsinatin ḥidādin 'ashiḥḥatan ʻalāl-khay'ri . 'ūlā'ika lam' yu''minū fa'aḥ'baṭa -llahu 'aʻ'mālahum' . wakāna dhālika ʻalā-llahi yassīran
Covetous over you. Then when fear comes, thou wilt see them looking to thee, their eyes revolving, like (those of) one over whom hovers death: but when the fear is past, they will smite you with sharp tongues, covetous of goods. Such men have no faith, and so Allah has made their deeds of none effect: and that is easy for Allah.
