4-I guide
Surah Luqman begins with the letters alif, lam and mim, like several other surahs.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can you remember another surah that starts with the same three letters?"
Watch the video Surah Luqman for Kids, from the Memorize Quran for Kids channel.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which letters open this surah?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why do several surahs share the same opening letters?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Luqman is surah 31, and it has thirty-four ayat. It is named after Luqman, a wise man whom Allah gave wisdom, and much of the surah shares his advice to his son. Like As-Sajdah just after it, it opens with alif, lam, mim. These letters remind us that the Quran is a book to listen to carefully from its very first sound.
Fact: How many surahs in the Quran open with alif, lam, mim?
Ages 5–8: Sound match. Say alif, lam, mim slowly and clap once for each letter.
Ages 9–12: Surah neighbours. Find the surahs on either side of Luqman and write their names and numbers.
Finish with: "I found that ___ surahs open with alif, lam, mim."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will listen to the start of Surah Luqman each day."
Action: Listen to the start of Surah Luqman each day.
