وَمَن جَٰهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَٰهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَنِىٌّ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Wa man jāhada fa'innamā yujāhidu linaf'sihī . 'inna -llaha laghaniyyun ʻani l-ʻālamīna
And if any strive (with might and main), they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation.

Whoever makes an effort for good is really helping themselves, for Allah needs nothing from anyone.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Who benefits when you practise a skill?"
Watch the Robo Ramadan video What Is Sabr? Patience for Muslim Kids.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who benefits from the striving?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How does my effort help me?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-'Ankabut is surah 29. Find ayah 6. The key word jahada means strives with effort. Jihad an-nafs is the struggle with yourself: waking for prayer, controlling anger, being honest. Every effort builds us up. Allah does not need our efforts; He is Al-Ghani, free of need.
Fact: Which ayah in Surah An-Najm says a person gets what they strive for?
Ages 5–8: Effort chart. Mark a star every time you try hard at something this week.
Ages 9–12: Inner struggle. Write one struggle with yourself you want to win.
Finish with: "I found that it is ayah ___ of An-Najm."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will work on one inner struggle each day."
Action: Work on one inner struggle each day.
