Surah Al-Qasas, the Stories, opens with the letters ta, sin and mim.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What makes a story worth hearing again and again?"
Nouman Ali Khan introduces this surah in an episode of the Quran Weekly series on getting to know each surah.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which letters open the surah?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why are true stories so powerful?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qasas is surah 28, and it has eighty-eight ayat. Al-Qasas means the stories, or following a trail step by step. Most of the surah tells the life of Musa, from a baby in a basket to a messenger facing Pharaoh. It opens with ta, sin, mim, the same letters as Surah Ash-Shu'ara.
Fact: How many times is the name Musa mentioned in the Quran?
Ages 5–8: Story map. Draw a river, a palace and a mountain, three places in Musa's life.
Ages 9–12: Surah openers. List four surahs that begin with ta and sin.
Finish with: "I found that Musa is mentioned about ___ times."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will tell someone one thing I know about Musa."
Action: Tell someone one thing you know about Musa.
